How Amber Mason was Rescued by Ningnong
Several years ago when a horrific tsunami swept through the tiny Thai island of Phuket, Amber Mason, age 8, was seated on the back of a four -year old elephant named Ningnong. When the tsunami hit the beach the young elephant high-tailed it out of there carrying Amber up the beach as fast as his legs could go to safety. Then stood and braced himself against the rushing water until Amber's parents came.

Chris and HaHa spent a ton of time together, walking through the forest, pushing each other into the mud, or competing in banana-eating contests (yep, Chris generally lost). When HaHa died at age four Chris was devasted and decided to try to do something to help restore the habitat elephants desperately need by making it simple for anyone to plant a tree.
